When the founders of Rockin' the Rivers first decided to put their love of rock music to good use by organizing what they hoped would become the ultimate die-hard rock festival, Montana was quickly settled on as the perfect place to host an annual event due to its ability to offer attendees a truly immersive experience thanks to its sprawling and secluded landscape. There is something about rock music and the beauty of nature that combine perfectly to create an atmosphere that elevates a festival to a whole new level.

For the past two decades, Rockin’ the Rivers has been held just outside of Three Forks, Montana, on a 140-acre venue that comes complete with a natural amphitheater that just so happens to be perfect for an incredible celebration of rock like no other. By choosing a location that lends itself to heightened sound quality. Whether you’re in front of the stage or towards the back of the crowd, you’ll never miss out on your favorite song.

We understand just how anxious everyone is to return to their favorite Montana amphitheater and campsite, so we’re working diligently to make this an unforgettable celebration.
Each year, we try to expand our lineup at least a little bit. We don’t just want you to hear your favorite groups; we want you to find your new favorite groups. Beyond that, we want to be as inclusive as possible. Yes, this is a rock festival, but we like to include some heavy metal in addition to a few “old-time” favorites. Don’t be shocked if you happen to see a surprise reunion on stage on the same day that you get introduced to a group you’ve never even heard of before. We like to keep it fresh, exciting and build anticipation for the upcoming years’ festivals.

We’ve been organizing and hosting Rockin’ the River for over two decades now, and we have no intention of quitting any time soon!

In addition, due to the magnificent landscape and setting of the festival, if you want to make an entire week out of the trip and see some sights, enjoy some fishing at one of the three nearby rivers that are known for producing blue-ribbon winning trout, or venture out onto a canoe or kayak, it’s the perfect opportunity for an extended vacation. Visit both Three Forks and Bozeman to complete your trip and prolong your Montana adventure.

HEADLINERS
Although we were beyond sad to have to cancel the festival in 2020 - which was also going to be our 20th Anniversary Festival - due to the pandemic and social distancing mandates, there is a bright side! The delay has allowed us to increase our budget and work towards bringing in an expanded and exciting lineup for our August 2021 dates. Not only are we currently working to secure all of 2020s missed lineup (as shown below), but we are also in the process of scheduling additional groups in order to make this 20th Anniversary Festival one of the most rockin’ yet!
